Great Books – Visiting Instructor
Visiting Instructor as replacement instructor for faculty on
sabbatical for the academic year 2009-2010. Great Books is a
four-course sequence in general education that moves chronologically
from the Greeks to the present. The replacement position is for the
first two courses in the sequence, which end with the Renaissance /
Reformation. Most course readings are common to all sections, but
instructors select some texts. Course readings include primarily
works of literature, philosophy, political theory, and religion.
Expertise in Medieval literature or philosophy is preferred. A
completed doctoral degree in an appropriate field is preferred; a
doctoral degree in progress is acceptable, and a master’s degree is
required.

Natural Science Division
Nutritional Science – Tenure-track Faculty Position (Open
Rank)
Tenure-track faculty position in Applied Human Nutrition and
Nutritional Science. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Nutrigenomics
or Nutrition Informatics and possess the ability to teach coursework
in nutritional science. Applicants with a Registered Dietitian
credential from the American Dietetic Association are preferred. The
faculty position is listed at the rank of Associate or Full
Professor; however, unusually accomplished and promising candidates
at the Assistant Professor level will be considered. Exceptional
applicants also may be considered for the Flora Laney Thornton Chair
in Nutritional Science. Candidates should have the ability to teach
a spectrum of undergraduate courses in nutritional science ranging
from general nutrition and introductory foods to public health
nutrition, nutrition education, cultural nutrition, and a
senior-level capstone course in nutrition.
Candidates seeking an appointment at a senior level should have
an outstanding record of peer-reviewed research and scholarly
publication. Assistant professor candidates must have a commitment
to develop an active scholarly program and the potential to develop
an outstanding record of scholarship.

Psychology – Assistant Professor
Preference will be given to individuals in Clinical Psychology,
but other areas will be considered, such as Counseling Psychology or
Health Psychology. Current teaching load is twenty-four units per
year, with an active research program. For junior faculty, teaching
loads are reduced in order to increase time available for research.
Course load will include Developmental, Introductory Psychology,
Child Clinical, Counseling Theory and Techniques, and a course in
the individual’s area of interest/expertise.
