DAAD (German Academic Exchange)

PURPOSE
DAAD, an independent association of German universities, supports
academic exchange between the U.S., Canada and Germany through its
14 international branch offices.
PROGRAMS
DAAD supports scholarships and fellowships for U.S. and Canadian
undergraduate and graduate students among its other programs. A
select few are listed below.
* Undergraduate Scholarships: Scholarships for 4 to 10 months of
study, thesis research or an internship for students in any academic
field.
* Study Scholarships: Study Scholarships are awarded to highly
qualified graduating seniors and graduate students of all
disciplines to provide the opportunity to study in Germany, or
complete a postgraduate or Master’s degree course and obtain a
degree from a German higher education institution.
* RISE: Summertime internships with German doctoral students at
universities and research institutions (no German is required)
* University Summer Course Grant: Summer courses at German
universities to help language skills while pursuing study in any
field.
* High Tech in Old Munich: A 4-week course (in English) with
specialized workshops and seminars at the prestigious Technische
Universität München. Site visits to major multinational
corporations, and cultural excursions.
* German Studies Research Grant: Funding for research in the U.S.
or Germany in all areas of contemporary German Studies.
* EMGIP: Two months at the German parliament for students who are
fluent in German.
ELIGIBILITY
Varies. Undergraduates planning to attend Pepperdine's
program in Heidelberg are not eligible for the undergraduate
scholarships if they apply during their first year.
Students may be eligible if they plan to apply during their
sophomore year for junior year study in Heidelberg.
